Earthquake in Indonesia 8.9 Richter scale | India Withdrawn Tsunami Warning

India has withdrawn the tsunami warning issued after the massive earthquake measuring 8.6 on the Richter scale in Indonesia.However, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said there was little danger of a tsunami.

Earthquake hits two times in India, cities like Kolkata and Chennai at 4.25 pm, but there was no tsunami threat from these aftershocks.

The original earthquake struck Indonesia at 2.08 pm, and first reports said it measured 8.9 on the Richter scale. It spurred warnings of a possible tsunami. The quake was later downgraded to 8.6 magnitude.

A tsunami watch was issued for the whole Indian Ocean. The quake struck 308 miles (500 km) southwest of the city of Banda Aceh, on the northern tip of Indonesia's Sumatra island, at a depth of 20.5 miles (33 km), the U.S. Geological survey said.

The quake was felt as far away as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and in southern India, residents said. Hundreds of office workers in Bangalore left their buildings, workers there said. The tremors were felt in Chennai and several other cities on the eastern coast.

The quake was in roughly in the same area as a Dec 26, 2004, quake of 9.1 magnitude, which sent huge tsunami waves crashing into Sumatra, in that quake tsunami killed 230,000 people living around the Indian Ocean – 170,000 of them in Aceh.

Auto LPG Prices Hiked Up By Rs.6 Per Litre & CNG Hiked By Rs.4.70

The state owned oil marketing companies have hike the LPG(liquified petrol gas) and CNG(compressed natural gas) prices.State-owned oil firms have hiked auto LPG prices by Rs 6 per litre and CNG has been increased by INR 4.70 per kilogram,these is the third increase in this year 2012.

Last month March 1st, 2012 auto LPG hiked the price upto Rs.3 (i.e Rs.40.7 to Rs.43.65). Now another hike up to Rs.6. Now, Auto LPG cost Rs 49.72 per litre as against Rs 43.65 per litre.

The Indian government heavily subsidizes the domestic LPG, which is used for cooking, across India. So, the prices of the domestic LPG has remained untouched by this latest price hike. The public sector oil marketing companies revise prices of LPG each month, by aligning domestic prices with international crude oil prices.

Therefore, any price change in the international crude oil prices gets directly reflected on prices of automobile LPG and CNG in the Indian market.

Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2012 | Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Championship 2012

India clinched the first Women's Kabaddi World Cup Championship 2012:

India won the first women's Kabaddi World Cup championship title, against Iran 25-19 in the final match at Patlipura sports complex at Kankerbagh in Patna on Sunday.

Japan secured third rank while Thiland came fourth in the championship. Earlier in the day, India defeated Japan 60-21 to enter the final while Iran beaten Thailand 46-26 to make it to the final.

Increasing Penalties Charges On Violation Of Traffic Rules | Motor Vehicle Act 2012

New Penalties for Traffic Rules Violations under Motor Vehicle Act 2012:

The Govt. of India has revised penalties for traffic rules violations under new Motor Vehicle Act 2012. The Govt. of India has introduced hefty penalties / fines for various traffic violations committed by two wheelers, four wheelers and commercial vehicle drivers.

Fine Rs.500 - Not wearing seat belt while driving a car or not wearing a helmet while riding two-wheeler or Jumping red Signal. On repetition of any such activity the fine will be multiplied.

Drunken Driving Fine Ranges From Rs.2000~Rs.5000 - Drunk driving will now bear a higher penalty and probably a jail sentence for up to two years along with a fine of up to Rs.5000. Also the drivers will be given tickets according to the alcohol levels in blood.

Over Speed Fine Ranges From Rs.1000~Rs.5000 - Speeding will now be incur you a penalty of Rs.1000 for the first time whereas if you repeat it, the penalty could reach Rs.5000.

Using Phone While Driving Fine Ranges From Rs.500~Rs.5000 - Talking on phone simultaneously is a common violation which will now attract a fine of Rs.500 for the first time and can go up to Rs.5000 on repeated violations.

Rash Driving - The fine has been increased to Rs 2,000-5,000 and / or imprisonment of 2 years in case of repeated offense. For first offense, the penalty is six months imprisonment and or fine of Rs 1,000.

        The bill is also proposed to give more powers to state governments in issuing driving licenses, fitness certificates, grant of permits, registration cards and disposal of appeals. The Govt. is also considering to introduce a timeline for issuing of licenses, permits, registration cards and fitness certificates. The new bill is likely to be introduced in the coming Budget session of Parliament.

Nelson Mandela Is Hospitalized | Nelson Mandela Admitted To Hospital With Stomach Ailment

The 93-year-old Former South Africa President Nelson Mandela was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning due to suffering abdominal pains.

Mandela "is fine and fully conscious and the doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age," Zuma said. "We are happy that he is not in any danger."

After undergone a  diagnostic procedure in hospital Nelson Mandela’s doctors said it was a long-standing health issue and not an emergency and is expected to be released from hospital by Monday.

Hero MotoCorp Ties With Erik Buell Racing | HMCL Partners With EBR

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler vehicle manufacturer, said on Wednesday it had entered into a partnership with US motorcycle company Erik Buell Racing (EBR). Erik Buell Racing was founded in November 2009 after the Buell Motorcycle Company was shutdown by the majority stake holder Harley Davidson. EBR is based in East Troy, Wisconsin USA. The Erik Buell Racing makes sports motorcycles and street Motorcycles which are sporty in nature. Under this partnership between Hero MotoCorp and Erik Buell Racing – Hero will sponsor two racing teams viz. Team Hero and AMOSIL Hero for AMA Pro Racing National Guard Superbikes Championship.

In return Hero will receive technology inputs and design cues from the Erik Buell Racing for their future motorcycle models. Also in future, Hero is considering bringing some of Buell’s high end sports bikes to India as the sports bike segment in India is already on a rise.
